Quality Manager – Addison, IL

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of key quality programs, policies, procedures, processes and improvements including FSMA/Food Safety Plan,GMP’s, Pest Control, Allergen Policy, Vendor Approval Program, Food Defense,
    PM Program HACCP, SQF and Food Fraud, USDA Organic program
  • Conduct and establish a company wide training program including safety, food safety, and the SQF pre-requisite programs.
  • Ensures that all company products and supporting documentation are in full compliance with regulatory and third-party standards.
  • Maintains a continuous improvement plan to ensure that products and processes meet and exceed company and regulatory standards.
  • Manages vendor compliance programs to assure that products and vendors are qualified to meet companies and regulatory standards.
  • Provides support and guidance to the Customer Service Department for consumer and customer food safety and quality related issues. Execute action plans to address product related consumer complaints and deficiencies.
  • Build relationships with both the customer and supplier base to create and foster a partnership relative to quality and to resolve any quality concerns
  • Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures
  • Provide both quality and food safety leadership throughout the company
  • Perform both formal and informal quality audits identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • 8 plus years experience in a quality assurance manager role in a flavor ingredient and/or food and beverage manufacturing facility required
  • SQF Practitioner preferred, or GFSI experience
  • PCQI, HACCP, and Better Process Control School- Training and experience
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • The ability to be hands on and roll up your sleeves is an absolute must.
  • Ability to multitask as well as prioritize and handle conflicting objectives
  • Superior problem solving skills with the ability to think both strategically and tactically
  • Customer service focused
  • Must be self motivated and results oriented
  • Must be comfortable make both important and difficult decisions and having confidence in those decisions
  • Experience with statistical analysis relative to quality—limits, deviations, etc.
  • Sound technical and regulatory experience, i.e. food safety research, labeling requirements and regulations, nutritionals, etc.
  • Experience and background in instrumentation analysis (i.e. GC mass spec instruments, etc.)
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office

 

Sr. Maintenance Technician – Addison, IL

Position Overview: Responsible for the maintenance, preventative maintenance and repairs of all company equipment and building fixtures.   Monitors maintenance budgets including expenses and labor.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Maintain Preventative Program for all Building and Production Equipment
  • Define, Obtain and Manage Service Agreements with Contractors for Maintenance and upkeep of Building and Production Equipment such as HVAC Units, Unit Heaters, Fork Lifts, Air Compressors, etc.
  • Work with engineers and help supervise large scale contractors with expansion projects
  • Oversees scheduling of repairs, maintenance and preventative maintenance in the entire facility by doing in house maintenance and using outside contractors as needed.
  • Ensures that the facility is in a good state of repair to include all walls, ceilings and floors at all times and is acceptable to meet SQF (GSFI) Global Food Safety Standards.
  • Work closely with the production department to resolve issues related to equipment and the facility
  • Must possess the ability to understand and execute a variety of regulatory and company procedures and policies
  • May involve some travel to our NJ location (10% or less)

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, some applicable college courses preferred, maintenance certifications highly desired
  • Must have at least 5 years of maintenance experience preferably in flavor compounding or food manufacturing, however maintenance experience working with similar equipment required.
  • Experience with Electrical Circuitry and Repair – 110 V and 460 V – 3 Phase
  • Experience Sweating Copper Piping
  • Good TIG Welding skills on large equipment needed
  • Previous experience with computerized preventive maintenance programs and associated computer skills needed.
  • Experience with PLC’s helpful and Electrical Troubleshooting required
  • Must be able to drive and operate a forklift and scissor lift

 

Beverage Application Technologist – Addison, IL

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create beverages/applications for product demonstrations, customer visits and trade shows.
  • Compound and blend flavor products as needed for day to day functions.
  • Consult with customers concerning regulatory and label questions.
  • Work on pilot activities with customers.
  • Effectively and efficiently execute lab projects that are assigned.
  • Support product development and applications team in tastings, information sharing of ideas & concepts, training and sample creation as needed.
  • Stay abreast of industry advancements by attending seminars, webinars and conferences.
  • Support customers with finding alternative sourcing options for raw materials.
  • Organize and maintain new raw material samples from vendors and suppliers.
  • Maintaining lab stock of most commonly used raw materials and ingredients.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Set up and participate in daily product tasting. These products range from Vegan/vegetarian products to meat and seafood flavor.
  • Engage in sensory support and for the product development and quality team as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in food science, physical sciences, or related field required
  • Desired 5-8 years application development experience.
  • Proficient in the following applications: Carbonated Beverages, Alcoholic Beverages, Functional Beverages and UHT Beverages
  • Proficient in finished product labeling
  • Proficient in conducting pilot plant work. Ability to help scale formulas to production.
  • Proficiency with Office suite, as well as ability & willingness to learn new software applications
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail and maintain a neat work environment
  • Must possess strong and effective communication, organizational & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team, in fast-paced setting

Product Application Technologist – Branchburg, NJ

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create recipes and applications for product demonstrations for customer visits and trade shows.
  • Follow current culinary trends and present ideas to Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Compound and blend flavor products as needed for day to day functions.
  • Effectively and efficiently execute lab projects that are assigned
  • Engage in sensory support for the product development and quality team as needed
  • Support product development and applications team in tastings, sharing feedback and information of ideas and concepts; as well as sample creation as needed
  • Assist quality team in evaluation and approval of raw materials and finished goods
  • Work in a collaborative team environment with operations, regulatory, quality, sales and marketing personnel
  • Organize and maintain new raw material samples from vendors and suppliers
  • Maintaining lab stock of most commonly used raw materials and ingredients
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Uphold and demonstrate stated BFI values with respect to all job responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in culinary science, food science or related field required
  • 2+ years relevant experience and a passion for making food taste great
  • Strong passion for food and cooking.
  • Able and willing to perform product tastings; which include vegan, vegetarian, meat, poultry, and seafood
  • Proficiency with Office suite, as well as ability & willingness to learn new software applications
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail and maintain a neat work environment
  • Must possess strong and effective communication, organizational & interpersonal skills
