Brookside Flavor & Ingredients LLC (“BFI”) is a diversified developer, manufacturer, and marketer of food flavorings and ingredient serving both sweet and savory end markets. BFI is headquartered in Addison, IL with another facility in Branchburg, NJ. BFI is a fast-paced company expanding through de novo initiatives, organic growth, and continued acquisition of flavor companies and technologies. 

Position Summary:  The Operations Specialist is responsible for accurate inventory management and supporting workflow throughout operations. 

The primary focus of this position is to ensure the usefulness, correct labeling, quantity and stock position of every raw material at the warehouse in Addison, IL. 

The secondary focus of this position is to support operations in warehouse departments. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs periodic and continual inventory cycle counts as directed. The goal is to ensure the correct packaging, labelling, quantity, usefulness and stock position of every raw material, that fulfills the requirements of production, purchasing, planning / scheduling, quality and accounting / finance.
  • Continually inspects raw materials for correctness and reconciles inventory issues.
  • Constantly maintains data integrity based on determinations of the results of your findings in the facilities.
  • Maintains all files and worksheets for cycle counts.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of all raw material storage locations.
  • Works with QC, R&D, planning, manufacturing, and receiving to write off and destroy rejected inventory in conjunction with inventory management in the financial group. If a material is to be destroyed, it must comply with all federal, state and local regulations.
  • This position is also required to complete training in all areas of shipping and receiving, acting as a backup or extra capacity when needed.
    The roles are as follows:
    • Truck loading and unloading
    • Raw material sampling
    • Raw material receipt
    • Create/review shipping paperwork
    • Book logistics
    • Comply with all Safety, HACCP, and GMP requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must be comfortable using computers and maintaining software. Experience with Microsoft Office, Sage X3 or ORACLE ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems preferred
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 3+ Years of Warehouse experience
  • Prior experience with manufacturing, liquid and powder blending a plus
  • Excellent math and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to drive a forklift and maintain forklift operator certification
  • Perform duties of the position with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work and communicate with a diverse group of people
  • A willingness for continued learning and advancement
  • Ability to work overtime daily and weekends, as required
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to lift 50+ pounds occasionally
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, occasionally bend and move around the facility.
  • Ability to work with allergens (tree nuts, peanut, dairy and other known allergens).
  • Ability to use the appropriate personal safety equipment and spill kits as provided to address accidental discharge of raw materials in the facilities.

Work Environment: 

  • Regular trips out to the warehouse and production areas with exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, noise levels, extreme temperature conditions, flammable & hazardous liquids, raw materials, and allergens.
  • Non-hybrid role

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Non-slip steel-toed shoes are required on the Production Floor and Warehouse.
  • Hairnets, facial hair nets, gloves, safety glasses and ear plugs are required to be worn on the Production Floor and Warehouse.
  • Lab coats, uniforms or coveralls are mandatory on the Production Floor and Warehouse.
