As we increase our Research and Development expertise, we invite interns to come in and get trained alongside food scientists, flavor chemists, and several more industry experts!
Internship Description:
During your residency at BFI, you will learn how to provide flavor solutions to customers, gather sensory data, compound flavors, and expand your general knowledge of the flavor industry. This is a paid position at a competitive rate of $15/hr. The program will also require an independent product development project that will be presented to the Research & Development team upon completion. Daily duties will include:
- Assisting Applications Technologist with product development and rapid prototyping in various savory applications, such as snacks, sauces, soups, plant-based meat & dairy, and griddle & baked products
- Supporting the Flavors Lab by compounding and organizing natural flavors for customer requests and application projects
- Developing a proactive savory applications demo that will be presented to the R&D team upon completion of internship
- Maintaining Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Qualifications:
We are currently looking for candidates who are:
Education: sophomore, junior, or senior in a Bachelor of Science program at a 4-year college or university
- Food Science major preferred but would also consider students majoring in a related science with an interest in the Food & Beverage industry, such as Nutritional Sciences, Chemistry, etc.
- Relevant Coursework: general chemistry, organic chemistry, food technology, food processing, food manufacturing, nutritional sciences
Experience: previous internship, laboratory, and or customer service experience preferred
Skills
- Demonstrates effective critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Competency in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and SharePoint
Misc
- Must provide their own housing and transportation
- Full-time preferred but can also consider part-time
